Aarbakke is among the world's leading companies in advanced mechanical manufacturing. Acquiring state of the art equipment for grinding tools was one of the steps Aarbakke took early in the 2000s. We developed expertise in regrinding our own tools and achieved significant cost savings. Eventually, we also started developing and producing special tools for our own operations. We place high demands on our regrinding and coating processes. Tolerances are at a maximum of 0.003 mm, in addition, we have advanced measuring equipment to ensure and document the quality of the deliveries. We can also provide measurement reports.

Electrical Discharge Machining

MACHINING WITHOUT DISTORTION

Unlike traditional machining methods, the tool in this process never directly interacts with the workpiece. Since no forces are exerted on the piece, distortion is eliminated, allowing for the machining of very thin features without the risk of breakage. The absence of distortion also allows for the achievement of very close tolerances, up to +/- 0.012mm.

FLEXIBILITY

A key benefit of Wire EDM (Trådgnist), is its enhanced design flexibility. It enables the creation of shapes and depths that traditional machining methods cannot achieve, such as undercuts and impeccably square inner corners. Another advantage is the absence of burrs in the machining process, adding to its appeal.

PRECISION

While Wire EDM (Trådgnist) may not be the most efficient for high-volume orders, it excels in the production of small parts and prototypes due to its high precision. This technique is frequently used in industries like automotive and aerospace where intricate components demand high levels of precision.

SUPERIOR SURFACE FINISH

Conventional material removal techniques such as CNC milling can leave machining marks on the workpiece, necessitating additional post-machining finishing. However, Wire EDM (Trådgnist), imparts no directionality to the surface finish, thus enabling the creation of uniformly smooth surfaces without extra processing.
